Malvern College Chengdu is looking an enthusiastic and experienced Head of Girls (Boarding) under the restructure of current boarding-team with internal promotion. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and delivery of the College’s vision and values.

The Head of Girls (Boarding) is one of the key pastoral roles at Malvern College Chengdu. The post holder will have overall responsibility of all Girls Boarding to ensure the emotional and physical well-being of the boarding pupils. They will provide support for matters related to pastoral care and managing parents’ communication related to boarding. They will be required to model Malvern qualities in the management of the House issues at all times.

    Key Responsibilities 

  • Ensure the School’s compliance with the regulatory requirements of Malvern College International (MCI) and to liaise with the Director of Education, or their representative in running boarding inspections; 
Develop and be familiar with the necessary girls boarding policies/regulations and knowledge of relevant legislation; Ensure records relating to girls boarding pupils are accurate and up to date, as required by the relevant local authorities; Oversee and manage the organisation and development of girls boarding in both daily operations as well as medium/long term strategies; Monitor the welfare, safety, discipline and pastoral well-being of girls boarding pupils; Ensure good communication between the boarding community and the School as a whole.

Key Requirements 

Degree holder with teaching qualification and preferably a BSA boarding qualification Previous extensive experience of boarding preferably at all levels and in an independent school setting. High proficiency of English Able to work both independently and effectively as part of a team Confident and persuasive written and verbal communicator Excellent ICT skills Able to relate to pupils, parents and colleagues with empathy and sensitivity. Fully understand and comply with the safer recruitment policy of MCC The ability to offer a mainstream academic subject is essential.

Safeguarding

The post holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact will always be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the School’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy Statement. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the post the post holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the School s/he must report any concerns to the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead.
