Job Description Summary

GE nuclear execution center located in Wuhan and more especially the heat exchanger engineering department needs to reinforce its team with a lead thermal engineer. The engineer will be in charge to answer to technical request for quotation during tender phase, execute the thermal sizing of heat exchangers and tanks and participate on demands to the training of our partners

Scope

  • Engineering/Technology - Design Engineering

  • Rotating Equipment Heat Exchanger

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Executing tender engineering by:

  • Analyzing technical Client RFQ to identify dimensional input and critical areas

  • Participating to client technical clarification

  • Executing tender engineering of equipment

  • Participating in preparation of subcontractor RFQ package for manufacturing

  • Executing tender retrofit project ensuring link with 3D models engineer to propose fitted solution

  • Participating to handover from tender engineering to project engineering

  • Executing project thermal engineering by:

  • Executing contract and specification reading to identify all technical requirements and highlighting critical areas prior designing equipment

  • Executing and leading the thermal sizing of products considering client specifications and directives, internal guidelines, design instructions, input data and conception rules,

  • Executing the analytical mechanical calculations (pre-sizing of products) and numerical calculations (vibration calculation)

  • Checking the documentation and notes sent to clients,

  • Organizing, presenting or participating to internal design review to ensure compliance with HEX engineering process

  • Participating on demand to the client clarification meetings

  • Working in interface with HEX mechanical engineering and HEX manufacturing quality teams and Turbine thermodynamic team and Process engineering team and Arrangement engineering team for Heat exchangers design optimization within the complete Steam cycle loop

  • Being able to answer to customer issues

  • Leading handover from HEX thermal engineering to HEX mechanical engineering team

  • Ensuring compliance to applicable rules & regulations , including Nuclear Sefety related requirements

  • Ensuring compliance to EHS rules. Contributing to EHS improvement on the whole product life cycle

  • Ensuring development and training of equipment design and tool

  • Developing program improving project targets as cost, delay and quality

  • Ensuring technology survey of design tool

  • Providing proposals for design improvement and cost reduction.

  • Executing training on thermal engineering for new comers or for Technology Transfer Agreement

Required Competences

Education & Experience

  • 1+ years of experience in Engineering activities in industrial environment

Technical Know-how

  • Experience in power plant engineering,

  • Strong knowledge in fluid mechanics and thermodynamics,

  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering,

  • Strong Knowledge of pressure vessels,

  • Knowledge in drawing reading and checking,

  • Knowledge of pressure vessel mechanical codes and material standard

  • Knowledge of thermal calculations software

Behavioural Know-how

  • Rigorous and autonomous

  • Good communication skills in an international team,

  • Good level in Solving problem

  • Good degree of analysis, judgement and decisiveness,

  • Customer oriented

  • Proactive in leading studies and solving problem

  • Ability to take short duration trips

Language skills

  • English: fluent (fluency: speaking, listening comprehension, reading, and writing.
