Insurance Business Finance Department

Hang Seng's Financial Control function works closely with the Bank's stakeholders, including business partners, shareholders, regulators and external examiners. We function as their accountants and business partners in providing comprehensive information on financial management, financial planning, financial reporting and compliance, capital planning and reporting, financial control & SOX control, tax advisory, insurance finance, and treasury and investment finance.

Insurance Business Finance Department ("ISF") is a business finance function supporting HASE insurance activities and we are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our department as Senior Insurance Finance Manager.

Principal responsibilities
  • Responsible for driving the identification and implementation of solution sets required to meet the HASE and HSBC Group's objectives in relation to all technical change projects
  • Support the quarterly externally reporting process for HASE and HSBC's Insurance business and the statutory financial statements
  • Maintenance of detailed knowledge of, and engagement with different project developments, emerging interpretation and best practice
  • Responsible for authoring and delivering high quality training to multiple stakeholders, including non-finance and non-insurance stakeholders on Accounting and Regulatory change
  • Support BAU reporting teams with regard to system changes (e.g. Group consolidation tool version upgrades and Group Reporting Chart of Accounts changes) and process improvement initiatives
  • Provide advice for insurance new business initiatives, investment decisions and insurance finance project implementation and ensuring the control on financial aspect in place in those new initiatives
  • Develop broad relationships with key stakeholders, across a range of internal and external functions, and maintain good relationship
  • Lead, coach, train and develop a small-size team, both onshore and offshore
  • Support ad hoc tasks, including general insurance distribution and others if necessary
Requirements
  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial or a related discipline with a recognised professional accounting qualification
  • Minimum 12 years' accounting / audit experience in sizable organizations, with exposure to insurance companies and with knowledge of insurance products. Exposure to financial institutions or knowledge in actuarial principles is an advantage
  • Independent, ability to work under pressure and in changing environment with strong communication, interpersonal and people managerial skills
  • Self-motivated, high ownership of work product and dedication and commitment to driving results
  • Strong business sense, coupled with good business partnering and ability to work collaboratively with different stakeholders
  • Solid analytical skills complemented by astute financial and business acumen
  • Sound knowledge of application software such as MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English and Chinese
  • Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective customer service processes
