ABOUT THE TEAM

The HANA Database & Analytics (HD&A) Common Service Infrastructure (CSI) Team in China is responsible for developing and running the Kubernetes-based infrastructure for HANA Database & Analytics cloud products, and taking charge of the development support for CSI services. Additionally taking charge of the development support of SAP HANA Cloud on AliCloud and the collobration with CDC. Besides Kubernetes, we are using further state-of -the-art technologies like Prometheus and Grafana in order to ensure high availability of our services.

Common Service Infrastructure (CSI) is the foundation for HANA Database & Analytics cloud products.Common Service Infrastructure supports service and product teams to code, ship and run their services and products in the cloud. It offers a portfolio of services that form a platform for development, release and operations of cloud-native, compliant and production-ready services and applications. Common Service Infrastructure assumes a Kubernetes based environment with applications applying a Microservice Architecture shipped with a SAP Micro-Delivery Release Process are the best way forward for applications to become first-class cloud citizens that excel in the Cloud Qualities and contribute to the company's success. CSI also supports non-microservice-style services released otherwise to integrate with Micordelivery rollouts on their way to CSI managed landscapes.

 

THE ROLE

As a Cloud Engineer in one of our CSI teams, you take over responsibility for one or more microservices together with your teammates. Your responsibility includes implementation, deployment and operations of the microservice, as well as the continuous improvements that are derived from operating the service in production. By applying DevOps principles and in close collaboration with our operations and support teams, you ensure automation of routine tasks and optimal operation of your services. Measuring and monitoring of e.g. availability, latency and overall system state are vital parts of this approach. Also, reacting on incidents and the associated root cause analysis as well as conducting post-mortem investigations are typical tasks.

You will be participating one of the CSI teams in Xi’an and working with Kubernetes, CI/CD and related/complimentary technologies.

 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Very good degree in informatics or related areas
  • Basic knowledge of major DevOps tools and technologies, initial experience with CI/CD pipeline, containerization and microservices transformation.
  • Initial experience with Kubernetes (especially patterns, custom resources, networking), Prometheus, Docker, Git, Jenkins
  • Initial experience with the cloud offerings of the major hyperscalers and their cloud infrastructure
  • Initial experience with cloud-native software development
  • Initial experience in one or more of the following programming languages: Java, Groovy, Python, Golang, Perl, Ruby, C, C++
  • Working in a distributed, international and globally operating development organization
  • Very good team player with extraordinary soft skills
  • Very good language skills in English
