Job Purpose: This role will be based at the Caterpillar Research and Development Center (CRDC). As the off-road vehicle tech leader, you will collaborate with technical teams, provide guidance, and mentor team members. Your focus will be on the concept development, system design, and configuration to ensure our products offer superior value to customers compared to competitors, considering features, performance, durability, quality, cost, manufacturing efficiency, and serviceability. You will also be involved in evaluating new technologies and products while staying up-to-date with industry advancements.

Job Responsibilities:

• Advanced concepts aligned with the product strategy
• Conceptual design based on customer needs
• Optimizing machine layout and power systems
• Ensuring technical specifications cascade effectively
• Collaborating with engineering teams on cost/performance trade-offs
• Facilitating design reviews and maintaining engineering data
• Leading the execution and planning of product development builds

Skill Descriptors:

• Products and Services: Extensive experience in overseeing development activities, advising on operational considerations, and promoting understanding of product groups and their interdependencies.
• Technical Excellence: Extensive expertise in providing solutions to technical challenges, mentoring others, and ensuring effective technical solutions.
• Influencing Through Expertise: Demonstrating effective influencing tactics, communication, and providing expertise to impact decisions.
• Project Management: Expertise in utilizing project management strategies to plan, organize, and monitor projects efficiently.

Additional: Preferred experience in off-road truck system and components testing; Proficiency in project management issue resolution; Familiarity with national standards for off-road trucks and the Chinese market; Bilingual in Chinese and English; Willingness to travel.
