Summary

This position is located in Qingdao. The Automation Engineer is a professional with solid knowledge of production processes, proficient in applications such as MES (PAS-X), LES, PCS7, Historian (OSI PI), and OEE (TrackSys), traceability systems, and can effectively transfer system knowledge to the business team through structured training. The Automation Engineer can independently engage with IT business analysts and global business analysts, ensuring good communication of issue resolution and impact with the business. Capable of independently proposing solutions to common design problems. During project construction, involved in pre-project design, construction, commissioning, and validation work as a user representative to better support the construction of the Qingdao pMDI factory.

During commercial production, while adhering to safety and GMP requirements, carry out effective automation system application improvements and maintenance activities, respond promptly to on-site troubleshooting needs, ensure that all automation systems operate safely and efficiently to support the core business processes of the pMDI factory, achieving leading SQSCP performance. Continuously enhance technical capabilities, establish efficient communication with internal and external customers on automation application issues.

Responsibilities

Production Process System View

  • Work together with dispensing, formulation, filling, A&P process facilitators, subject matter experts, and project team members to summarize and visualize current production processes.
  • Transfer production processes into system design language based on GMP requirements and PAS-X MBR design concept, focusing on simplification and standardization.
  • Lead the rollout of PAS-X system to enable electronic batch recording and material traceability at the Qingdao site.
  • Lead the rollout of process control systems like PCS7 to ensure stable operation of the formulation process at the Qingdao site.
  • Lead the rollout of traceability systems to enable product traceability at the Qingdao site.
  • Take responsibilities on sub-stream projects related to LES, Big Data (Data Historian & Discoverant), and quality systems.
  • Draft SOPs and work instruction documents for digital automation systems and ensure users have the latest versions.

Operation

  • Responsible for the management of automation software, preventive/fault maintenance activities, and development and maintenance of automation programs in compliance with GMP, CGMP, SHE, and production requirements.
  • Responsible for the management and maintenance of automation software and facilities.
  • Responsible for the upgrade and enhancement of automation systems.
  • Optimize equipment operation to increase productivity and stability.
  • Research new projects and equipment, and prepare related materials (user requirements, specifications).
  • Backup automated programs.
  • Participate in or lead new projects, propose recommendations, and implement solutions to achieve project goals.
  • Write SOPs and work instructions for automated programs.
  • Enhance team skills through training and knowledge sharing.

GMP/Compliance/SHE

  • Conduct all business activities in compliance with GMP, SHE, and Compliance policies and standards associated with the position and responsibilities.
  • Collaborate closely with group leaders, PF, and PCO members in daily operations.

Lean/PPS

  • Demonstrate a lean mindset and effectively apply PPS in business scenarios for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering.
  • 5 years of experience in the IT automation field.
  • 5 years of automation experience in a multinational pharmaceutical company.
  • Experience with project or new site startup.
  • Proficient in reading and speaking English.
  • Good experience in LES designing or problem-solving.
  • Good experience in Historian (OSI PI) designing or problem-solving.
