About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Manager to lead our strategic planning efforts in China. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective leadership strategies to drive business growth and success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with clients at all levels, with a focus on building trusted partnerships with senior clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead and collaborate with the wider team to deliver integrated planning across all touchpoints, in line with our annual connections planning approach.
  • Manage the team day-to-day, acting as a coach and mentor to team members, and conduct regular performance appraisals to ensure they are adequately trained and resourced to execute tasks.
  • Prioritize tasks and delegate to team members, ensuring they have the necessary time, resources, and training to deliver high-quality work.
  • Agree realistic timeframes for delivery of work with clients and revisit as necessary.
  • Work with clients to develop effective processes and systems for managing their business.
  • Supervise and be accountable for all work, ensuring it meets high standards of quality, accuracy, insightfulness, and innovation.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving capabilities and implementation capacity.
  • Drive pitches or new business proposals to existing clients when necessary.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of leading blue-chip accounts, with 10+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to manage and motivate employees, clients, and suppliers at all levels.
  • Thorough understanding of the China media environment, including how to engage and leverage maximum impact from BAT JBPs for client benefit.
  • Experienced digital practitioner with a strong understanding of strategy.
  • Performance-based client experience is ideal but not essential.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, as well as compelling presentation skills.
  • Fluent in Mandarin and strong English language skills.
  • Thorough market, industry, and client management knowledge and expertise.
