Research Scientist in Powder Technology

Position Overview

As a key member of the Powder Business Technology team, the Research Scientist will focus on creating and sustaining high-quality, cost-effective products tailored to meet customer needs. This role requires a deep understanding of formulation practices, customer specifications, and testing methodologies, ensuring a seamless transition of products into production while adhering to quality standards for continuous enhancement.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Uphold Axalta's fundamental operating principles, emphasizing EHS, ethics, and quality in all actions.
• Innovate new products aligned with customer requirements and facilitate effective communication to secure customer approval.
• Lead project management efforts, tracking progress and providing timely updates to both local and global teams.
• Validate alternative sources for raw materials to ensure product integrity.
• Assist in the localization of products to meet specific market demands.
• Maintain and update product formulations in the TIPS database.
• Apply expertise to develop products that fulfill customer specifications while ensuring optimal workability and efficiency.
• Address major customer concerns regarding Axalta's products and technologies within targeted industries.
• Identify and implement suitable rework strategies for distressed or non-productive inventory.
• Support trial runs of new product launches at customer locations as necessary.
• Take a proactive role in resolving customer issues using appropriate problem-solving methodologies.
• Provide training to laboratory technicians on new chemical formulations, application techniques, and testing procedures.

Essential Qualifications:

• Degree in Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science.
• At least 3 years of experience in the powder industry.
• Strong communication skills with a collaborative mindset.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
• Excellent verbal and written proficiency in English.
