Overview:
Société Générale Assurances is seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Developer to join our dynamic IT team in Beijing. With over 40 years of presence in the Chinese market, our IT department is divided into three specialized teams: GTS, FTB IT, and REG IT, all dedicated to maintaining and evolving our local IT infrastructure and applications to support various business lines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a pivotal developer within a geographically diverse IT team.
- Collaborate effectively to uphold superior coding and architectural standards.
- Continuously seek improvements in team efficiency and operational practices.
- Take full ownership of delivering value from concept to execution, including understanding business requirements, development, testing, operations, and support.
- Implement high-quality code using best practices in software craftsmanship, including domain-driven design, continuous integration, and deployment.
- Engage in testing, deployment, and production activities to ensure system stability.
- Design and enhance microservices that expose RESTful APIs within our information systems and manage their deployment.
- Critically assess requirements and propose effective solutions.
- Provide support for developed applications and assist with user inquiries.
- Work collaboratively with team members across various locations, including India and Hong Kong, as well as external vendors.
- Communicate effectively with business and IT stakeholders at all levels.
- Develop microservices in Java to deliver additional functionalities or support processes not covered by existing software, utilizing frameworks such as Spring Boot for API development.
Candidate Profile:
Educational Background:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher, preferably in Computer Science.
Professional Experience and Technical Skills:
- Over 5 years of experience in modern Java development, along with proficiency in at least one additional backend programming language.
- Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and Design Patterns.
- Able to troubleshoot complex issues effectively.
- Willing to voice opinions and challenge the status quo to drive improvements.
- Adaptable to change and committed to delivering functional solutions.
- Preference for direct communication and clarity in interactions.
Technical Competencies:
- Hands-on experience with Docker.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments.
- Proficient in Git version control.
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL, Apache ActiveMQ, and ELK monitoring is advantageous.
- Experience in payment systems and cash management is a plus.
Language Proficiency:
- Fluent in Mandarin and English.
Collaboration:
- Internal: Work closely with local IT teams, including infrastructure, production, and project/BA teams, as well as other departments.
- External: Collaborate with application vendors and external auditors.
