Job Title: Physical Education Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Physical Education Assistant to join our team at the International School of Beijing. The successful candidate will provide support to our Physical Education teachers in achieving student learning objectives and promoting student success within and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and prepare equipment in storage rooms
  • Book facilities with activities offices for all PE teachers
  • Book setup of equipment in various facilities with Sodexo
  • Maintain and update weekly schedules on whiteboards in PE offices
  • Assist in classes as needed
  • Document and resource preparation and collection
  • Liaise with TAs in MSPE and HSPE
  • Attend PE meetings
  • Help with Dragon Olympics as directed
  • Cover lunch-time duties as needed
  • Prepare equipment and resources for ES teachers leading events and activities
Requirements:
  • Understand and exhibit good judgment in interpersonal and human relations with colleagues, students, and community
  • Develop rapport with students
  • Promote positive self-concept in students
  • Use communication skills and conflict resolution strategies to promote positive relationships with students, staff members, and parents
  • Demonstrate understanding of rules and regulations covering confidential and sensitive issues
  • Handle sensitive and confidential documents, communications, incidents, etc., with due discretion and in a conscientious manner
  • Maintain confidentiality of students' grades, attendance, and behavior records, and files
  • Observe International School of Beijing's employment guidelines
  • Observe designated work hours
  • Comply with ISB's guidelines regarding employee dress, conduct, and behavior
  • Demonstrate safe, ethical, and responsible behavior
  • As requested or assigned, participate in formal or informal staff meetings

Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of full-time work experience
• Demonstrated proficiency in Chinese and Mandarin, both written and spoken language
• Experience and/or knowledge of an inquiry-based, project-based educational setting
• Genuine interest to serve elementary school-aged children
• Demonstrated adaptability and openness to new ideas
• Ability to follow directions, be an active listener, and take initiative
• Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team
• Appropriate computer skills
• Possess sufficient mobility to monitor students and manage student behavior in classroom and non-classroom situations
