Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our nuclear heat exchanger engineering department. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing mechanical design of heat exchangers, ensuring quality of manufacturing drawings, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute analytical mechanical calculations for heat exchanger sizing during tender and execution phases
  • Read and analyze contracts and specifications to identify critical areas prior to designing equipment
  • Lead mechanical sizing of products considering client specifications, internal guidelines, design instructions, input data, and conception rules
  • Check documentation and notes sent to clients
  • Verify manufacturing drawings of equipment
  • Organize, present, or participate in internal design reviews
  • Participate in client clarification meetings as needed
  • Collaborate with thermal engineering and manufacturing quality teams for design optimization
  • Challenge Mechanical integrity team by checking boundary conditions of Finite Element models and calculation results
  • Address customer issues
  • Contribute to design rule updates and propose design improvements and cost reduction initiatives based on project experience
  • Review Concession Requests (CR) and/or Non-Conformity Reports (NCR) related to products in manufacturing
  • Ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations, including Nuclear Safety requirements
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering activities in an industrial environment
  • Experience in power plant engineering
  • Knowledge of the Nuclear industry/engineering (helpful but not mandatory)
  • Strong knowledge of pressure vessel codes and heat exchange equipment standards and guidelines (ASME, EN13445, CODAP, AD2000, WRC107, RCCM, GB-150, TEMA, HEI)
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering physics
  • Strong knowledge of FEA principles and skills in FEA software (ANSYS)
  • Understanding of vessels and heat exchangers thermal design concepts
  • High skills in at least one pressure vessel calculation software (AutoPipe Vessel, Compress, PVElite)
  • Good knowledge of structure codes (Eurocode 3, CM 66)
  • High competence in engineering technical drawings construction and drawings good engineering practices, familiar with CAD tools (CATIA, Autodesk products or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of plant guidelines & diagrams as P&ID reading and checking
