About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Reliability Engineer to join our team. This role ensures operational excellence by maintaining a stable, secure, compliant, and highly available database platform. The ideal candidate will have a mix of strong hands-on technical skills in automation scripting, database administration, platform integration, agile project management, and communication.

This role requires good communication skills, being detail-oriented, strategic, and the ability to continually adapt, prioritize, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment is required. You will need to be a self-starter, ready to dig in and own projects, collaborate cross-functionally, and deliver quality results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage databases in a cloud environment with end-to-end automation, including administration, observability, troubleshooting, configuration changes, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Work independently and closely with developers, providing DBA support for multiple applications in development, QA, staging, and production environments.
  • Effectively design, implement, maintain, and optimize databases in challenging environments.
  • Design, implementation, and maintenance of PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Clickhouse databases.
  • Troubleshoot and monitor database performance and optimize queries for efficiency.
  • Automate database deployment, configuration, and management tasks.
  • Implement and maintain database security policies, roles, and access controls.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide support for critical database issues outside of regular business hours.
  • Work on automating implementation and operational activities using CI/CD pipelines.
  • Implement robust monitoring, alerting, HA, and DR mechanisms.

Requirements

  • At least 4+ years' hands-on experience in database administration, with a strong focus on PostgreSQL.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • SQL expert, proficient in languages like Python or other programming languages.
  • Utilize expertise in cloud security to implement and maintain security controls, monitoring, and compliance measures for cloud-based database applications.
  • Good knowledge of database design principles, performance tuning, and optimization techniques.
  • Knowledge of any one of cloud environments like GCP and AWS, including compute, networking, storage, and security.
  • Nice to have experience on ELK, Clickhouse, Kafka, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
  • Should be proactive and innovative, with hands-on experience managing and troubleshooting database systems in a startup environment.
  • Strong technical communication skills (written and verbal) in English.
  • Any certification on Cloud Administration, Kubernetes, or Database technologies is plus.
