About the Role

The University Guidance Counsellor is a critical member of the student journey, providing expert guidance and support in career and university planning. This role requires a deep understanding of recent developments in higher education and a strong ability to collaborate with relevant departments to understand student ambitions and goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist students in making informed and realistic college choices, taking into account their academic and personal goals.
  • Enhance the school's reputation in higher education by providing exceptional guidance and support to students and families.
  • Educate students and parents about universities, majors, admissions, and testing, ensuring they have a comprehensive understanding of the college application process.
  • Provide personalized counseling for students, addressing their unique needs and concerns.
  • Maintain accurate student records and write school recommendations, ensuring timely and effective communication with colleges and universities.
  • Contribute to careers counseling and coordinate events, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for students.
  • Support students with online applications and preparation, ensuring they are well-equipped to succeed in the college admissions process.
  • Assist with clearing and final admissions processes, ensuring a smooth transition for students.
  • Participate in student and parent activities, building strong relationships and fostering a sense of community.
  • Maintain records of admissions decisions and data, providing valuable insights for future planning and improvement.
  • Collaborate with other counselors to improve practices, ensuring a cohesive and effective approach to student support.
  • Contribute to school and co-curricular activities, demonstrating a commitment to the school's mission and values.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject area, with a strong understanding of recent developments in higher education.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar field, with a proven track record of success in student guidance and support.
  • Complete fluency in English and Mandarin, with a strong ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
