Job Title: Large Language Model Intern

Cummins Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Department as a Large Language Model Intern.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a talented individual to assist in the development and application of Large Language Models (LLMs) in automotive and industrial domains. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, collaborate with a team of experts, and contribute to the advancement of AI research.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect and curate domain data: gather and clean texts, codes, and data related to automotive and industrial domains to provide high-quality data for training and application of LLMs.
  • Design and implement LLM application solutions: develop and implement solutions based on LLMs for specific application scenarios, such as intelligent customer service systems, automatic Q&A systems, and fault diagnosis systems.
  • Develop and optimize LLM training and inference processes: improve the efficiency, accuracy, and interpretability of LLMs through optimization of training and inference processes.
  • Evaluate and analyze LLM effectiveness: assess the effectiveness of LLMs in automotive and industrial applications and improve and optimize them based on results.
  • Write technical documents and reports: document research and development of LLMs for automotive and industrial applications, including results and lessons learned.
  • Present compelling stories to team members and stakeholders: communicate research and development progress and results to team members and stakeholders.
Qualifications and Competencies:
  • Undergraduate or graduate student in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related disciplines: solid knowledge of computer science fundamentals and familiarity with data structures, algorithms, programming languages, etc.
  • Familiarity with NLP technologies: understanding of basic NLP concepts, such as word embedding, language modeling, text classification, machine translation, etc.
  • Familiarity with LLM technologies: understanding of LLM concepts and application frameworks, including Transformer, pre-trained models, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, fine-tuning, LangChain, etc.
  • Deployment experience with major open-source LLMs, such as ChatGLM, Llama, etc.
  • Relevant project experience: participation in NLP/LLM-related projects, such as chatbots, text generation, Q&A systems, etc.
  • Familiarity with Python or other programming languages: proficiency in writing and developing code in Python or other programming languages.
  • Good learning and problem-solving skills: ability to learn new knowledge and technologies quickly and solve problems independently.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills: ability to communicate effectively with team members and collaborate to complete project tasks.
