Teaching & Learning:


  • Develop pedagogical strategies to connect students' existing knowledge to prior learning.
  • Implement inclusive education practices that align with A-level standards.
  • Employ instructional methods that foster higher-order thinking, international mindedness, and metacognition.
  • Utilize diverse technologies to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Integrate A-level specific terminologies into classroom discussions.
  • Communicate expected behaviors and employ effective classroom management strategies.
  • Create a learning environment that promotes ownership, intercultural understanding, and self-expression.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary unit planning and implementation.
  • Stay current on A-level changes and utilize the Programme Resource Centre and coordinator.
  • Explore educational theory and practice to inform lesson preparation and improve pedagogy.


Assessment:


  • Familiarize yourself with IBDP assessment principles and the KCISEC Assessment Policy.
  • Design and use authentic tasks and strategies for formative and summative assessment.
  • Meet deadlines specified in school and IB assessment calendars.
  • Moderate assessment results through the internal standardization process.
  • Provide criteria-based, transparent, and constructive feedback.
  • Use assessment data to inform planning and facilitate further learning.
  • Maintain accurate records of students' performance, including uploading grades to ManageBac.

Professional Responsibilities:


  • Recommend suitable teaching resources and maintain records of textbooks and materials.
  • Protect, maintain, and return equipment and materials.
  • Inform line managers of any difficulties or potential concerns.
  • Supervise IBDP Projects when assigned.
  • Participate in collaborative planning meetings and school events.
  • Follow school guidelines and procedures for field trips.
  • Maintain curriculum documentation, including ManageBac.
  • Engage in teacher evaluation and monitoring processes and activities.
  • Protect student rights by maintaining confidentiality and adhering to the KCISEC Child Protection policy.

Requirements:

  • Certification as a Secondary Teacher.
  • At least an undergraduate degree from an accredited university.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
