About the Job
We are seeking a highly qualified Chinese Language Lecturer to join our team at Xi an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced language educator to teach Chinese language and culture to students from diverse backgrounds.
Job Description
- Credit-bearing Chinese content modules for degree students majoring in China Studies and Teaching Chinese as an International Language, i.e. Modern Chinese, Classical Chinese, Teaching Chinese as an International Language.
- Credit-bearing Chinese language modules from beginners to CEFR B2+ level, and Chinese language modules for Specific Purposes, i.e. Business Chinese.
- Non-credit bearing Chinese courses, i.e. Practical Chinese Courses, staff Chinese, summer school.
- Engaging with Continuing Support Chinese language and cultural activities.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Chinese language and culture to students, developing curriculum materials, and engaging in departmental service. The lecturer will also have opportunities to contribute to the development of the School of Languages and participate in university-level committees.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master s degree in a relevant area, such as Teaching Chinese as an International Language.
- At least two years of post-master s teaching experience, preferably at university level.
- A good standard of written and spoken English, as this is the working language of the university.
- Familiarity with more than one language proficiency standard such as CEFR/HSK/ACTFL is a plus.
