Job SummaryClyde & Co is seeking a highly skilled Associate with 3-5 years of post-qualification experience to join our Shanghai office. The ideal candidate will have a common law background and be qualified in a common law jurisdiction (HK/SG/E&W). The role will involve working on international arbitration and disputes cases, with a focus on Mainland China clients and work.
Key Responsibilities- Based in Shanghai, with a common law background and qualified in a common law jurisdiction (HK/SG/E&W);
- Role heavily focused on international arbitration and disputes work, largely centred around Mainland China clients and work;
- Some exposure and involvement in the non-contentious side, e.g., sanctions;
- Business Development and commercial awareness, with confidence in building rapport with clients to gain a better understanding of their business' needs;
- Travel within China occasionally;
- Collaboration with the wider team across Singapore, Hong Kong, and the APAC region.
- 3-5 years' of post-qualification experience;
- Common law background and qualified in a common law jurisdiction (HK/SG/E&W) is essential;
- Strong general litigation and international arbitration background;
- Experience in shipping/international trade matters highly regarded;
- Experience working with reputable or international law firms is preferred;
- Language proficiency is key, and conversant in business Mandarin is a requirement;
- Strong academics, self-driven, a 'can do' approach, with excellent verbal and written communications skills;
- Strong time management skills and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities in order to meet deliverables to a very high standard.
