Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Materials Sourcing Engineer to join our team at Wahl Clipper Global. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and developing relationships with suppliers to drive new plastics, coatings, colors, materials, and finishes in support of our new product development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supplier Identification and Development: Find high-quality suppliers with existing capabilities in coating, materials, and components.
- Future Technologies and Supplier Partnerships: Identify future technologies and appropriate suppliers, and facilitate connections with our innovation team.
- Communication and Collaboration: Connect our industrial design and development team with supplier partners, drive communication and prototype builds, and pre-screen to accelerate iterations to get required performance and quality.
- Strategic Supplier Initiatives: Drive strategic supplier initiatives including supplier selection, development, consolidation, and platforming methodologies.
- Market Intelligence and Analysis: Develop and maintain a good understanding and knowledge of current materials, products, and markets and their potential impact on our company performance globally.
- Stakeholder Management: Work closely with internal customers/stakeholders to understand priorities, timing, and strategy of key business requirements.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of materials engineering experience with an emphasis on colors and finishes.
- Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science Engineering.
- Skills: Ability to communicate and facilitate communication between suppliers and our company, necessary industry understanding to define what is relevant, current, and exciting to our various product categories, knowledge of strategic sourcing methodologies, and excellent negotiation skills.
