About the Role

The Scientific Editor will be a key member of our editorial team, responsible for overseeing submissions and performing quality peer review to ensure the publication of high-quality content. This role requires building global relationships with experts in the field to disseminate and discuss practice-changing results.

Responsibilities
  • Recruit and select exciting content for publication
  • Assess submitted research papers and collaborate with referees
  • Engage authors throughout the review process and provide outstanding author service
  • Commission and edit review and perspective articles, as well as other front matter
  • Develop and support journal strategy, including supporting the development of strong links between Cell Press open access journals
  • Build effective working relationships with colleagues across Cell Press and beyond
  • Establish relationships with researchers through outreach to the scientific and clinical communities
  • Travel to scientific conferences and research institutions to communicate the journal's mission
Requirements
  • PhD or MD in a relevant scientific or clinical discipline
  • Broad scientific interests and the ability to think critically about a wide range of scientific and clinical issues
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work successfully both independently and in a diverse global team
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, with a proven track record of building global research networks and connections
  • Interest in digital communication and publishing trends
