Job Summary

Celestica is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team. As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will be responsible for managing accounts payable metrics, resolving bank reconciliation issues, and ensuring the accuracy of financial data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage accounts payable metrics, including aging and status of rejected items, debit balances, and AP days.
  • Resolve bank reconciliation issues with direction from the accounting team.
  • Manage contra relationships with select suppliers/customers.
  • Analyze goods received not invoiced to ensure all balances are valid.
  • Generate and analyze debit balances reports for returned items or duplicate payments.
  • Ensure recovery of debit balances through collection of funds from suppliers or offset against future payments.
  • Take independent action to gather ideas and gain consensus with cross-functional teams on process improvement recommendations.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure ideas are understood and accepted.
  • Write effectively and make internal presentations.
  • Meet group needs and work to achieve team goals over individual goals.
  • Evaluate alternatives based on pros and cons.
  • Provide input on how to manage required changes.
  • Lead by example and be accountable for own actions.

Requirements

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy and working under tight time deadlines.
  • Ability to evaluate, prioritize, and problem-solve a variety of tasks to ensure their timely and accurate completion.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
  • Willingness to take initiative to achieve objectives.
  • Thorough understanding of accounting principles.
  • Ability to apply corporate accounting policies and procedures manual.
  • Basic understanding of forecasting and planning.
  • Ability to calculate and do basic interpretation of all key business metrics.
  • Provide interpretation of reports/results to users.
  • Generate reports with job-related software.
  • Understanding of the capabilities of the tools and identify problems and troubleshoot input errors.
  • Understand inter-relationships between departments.

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements are frequently required (e.g. data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc).
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Typical Experience

  • Zero to two years in a relevant position.

Typical Education

  • Community college diploma, or consideration of equivalent combination of education and experience.
