Material Scientist

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on associate to support the approval of alternate sources for established raw materials and new material development to support technology programs.

Responsibilities:

• Design laboratory studies to evaluate established and new raw materials and interpret the results based on the underlying properties of the materials being studied.
• Develop and apply advanced characterization methods for organic reinforcements.
• Provide on-site assistance during plant trials as required and perform supplier technical assessments.
• Communicate and collaborate within the raw material team, suppliers, procurement, and quality/manufacturing to ensure successful development and technology transfer.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in chemical engineering, materials science, or chemistry.
• 1-5 years of experience in raw materials or compounding.
• 1-5 years of experience in manufacturing (mixing and preparation in a tire plant) is an asset.
• Experience in understanding structure/property relationships and advanced characterization methods for raw materials.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Familiarity with polymers, fillers, and/or reinforced composites is desired.
• Proficiency in the statistical design and analysis of experimental data is required.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in teams is required.
• Exceptional communication and technical documentation skills is required.
• Domestic and international travel is sometimes required.
