About the Role

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented intern to support the Small Grants Programme (SGP) in China. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team and contribute to the implementation of projects that promote sustainable development and environmental conservation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the organization of workshops and training events for SGP partners and stakeholders;
  • Translate and proofread SGP-related documents, ensuring accuracy and cultural sensitivity;
  • Update project information in the database and website, ensuring timely and accurate reporting;
  • Maintain close relationships with NGO partners through social media and campaign activities;
  • Draft meeting minutes and reports, summarizing key discussions and outcomes;
  • Support project monitoring and evaluation, ensuring data quality and accuracy;
  • Perform ad-hoc assignments as required by the team leader.
Requirements
  • Fluency in English and Chinese, with excellent written and spoken communication skills;
  • Background in environment, communication, or a related field;
  • Experience in using computers and office software packages, including MS Word, Excel, and web-based management systems;
  • General understanding of NGO, environment, and international development issues.
Education and Experience
  • Master's degree in environment or international development is desirable;
  • Candidates must meet one of the following educational requirements:
    • Enrolled in a Master's or PhD programme;
    • In the final year of a Bachelor's programme;
    • Within one year after graduation from a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD programme;
    • Or enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertaking the internship as part of this program;
    • Experience in developing research communication products would be an advantage.
Language and Skills

Excellent written and spoken Chinese and English language skills are essential for this role. The successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders, including SGP partners and UNDP staff.

Internship Conditions
  • Interns must provide proof of enrolment in health insurance plan and medical certificate of good health prior to starting the internship;
  • The stipend will be paid monthly, and interns will have 1.5 days of leave per month;
  • Interns are responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed;
  • Interns must not apply for or be appointed to a position that should be encumbered by a staff number during the period of their internship;
  • Interns are expected to fulfil the terms of their internships and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity.
