Job Title: Tool Engineer

Join the Straumann Group as a Tool Engineer and play a key role in the development of our new manufacturing campus in Shanghai, China. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for cutting tool management, CNC cutting tool development, tool life management, and tool technical problem fixing.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, optimize, and manage cutting tools to ensure product transfer and mass production can be running smoothly and keep competitive tool cost control.
  • Collaborate with global engineers and technicians to analyze the feasibility of tools in the transfer scope and provide constructive solutions.
  • Lead the local tooling technical analysis and support tooling quotation technically.
  • Responsible for manual, semi-auto, and full automation tooling design and drawing release for control if standard tool can't meet manufacturing requirements or efficiency problems.
  • Responsible for tooling quality, follow up tooling manufacturing schedule, and trial out.
  • Responsible for tool related WI drafting & release and non-standard tool 2D/3D drawing list maintenance.
  • Responsible for Shanghai site all cutting tools list creation and maintenance.
  • Lead the tool utilization and standardization programs.
  • Lead the tool life management system build.
  • Work with local tool suppliers to plan the VMI tool management strategy and implementation.
  • Be positive to coach team members for the tool knowledge.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or above in an Engineering discipline, such as Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent background.
  • More than 5 years working experience in the mechanical industry.
  • Language skills: Medium level-capable of English speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
  • Be capable to use one kind of 3D software for modeling.
  • Much familiar with all kinds of cutting tools especially CNC turning machine tools and application condition like material, structure, and using parameters.
