Role Overview:

CN20 Alcon (China) Ophthalmic Product Co. Ltd Company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ophthalmic Surgical Consultant to join our team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Attainment of overall Vitreoretinal sales and market share objectives at the country level:
  • Assist in the upskilling of VMs/SEMs on VitRet, AVS products & commercial selling skills.
  • Assist in the development of VMs/SEMs to be Consultants in the long run to develop and maintain the deep surgical retina expertise in the country.
  • Continuously be in close collaboration with sales managers for the alignment of the needs of VMs/SEMs and target accounts selection.
  • Work with VMs/SEMs to define strategic target accounts/customers and account specific goals, including gauge upgrades, cutting speed upgrades, increasing penetration of advanced consumables to drive increase of overall procedural value and better patient outcomes.
  • Work with targeted accounts/customers: Drive demand creation for advanced Alcon vitreoretinal & Alcon Vision System products, Defend Alcon's VitRet & Vision System business, and convert competitive business to Alcon in coordination with VMs/SEMs. Enhancement experience of AVS accounts.
  • Act like a go-to-person for VMs/SEMs in case of critical competitive threats/challenges in strategic accounts and when there is a need for deep VitRet expertise.
  • Close collaboration with country/regional training teams to be a part of the VitRet & AVS trainings as subject-matter-expert to bring up-to-date clinical experience.
  • Key Opinion Leader (KOL) & Local Opinion Leader (LOL) development, product education and optimization for advanced Alcon vitreoretinal products:
  • Establish sustainable relationship with KOLs and LOLs as an expert resource for advanced Alcon VitRet & AVS products.
  • Foster KOL/LOL advocacy for Alcon's current and future surgical retina portfolio across the country to protect and grow current business and to prepare launch of next generation device.
  • Work with sales and marketing to assess abilities and areas for improvement of current and future KOLs/LOLs, then create and execute plan to enhance their abilities and usefulness as a KOL for advanced Alcon vitreoretinal products.
  • Introduce new products and influence surgical techniques to align KOL activities with marketing messages.
  • Convince competitive KOLs to speak for Alcon through outstanding value demonstration of Alcon ́s VitRet & AVS portfolio.
  • Drive HCP education initiatives specific for VitRet like Constellation User Meetings and Grieshaber Facility visits.
  • Strategic execution support for marketing:
  • Continuously be in close collaboration with VitRet marketing for strategic and messaging alignment.
  • Function as the voice from within the OR to marketing including competitive trend communication and what works well and what should be improved.
  • Assist in the execution of the marketing plans - be the champion and ensure message alignment with KOLs & LOLs.
  • Drive vitreoretinal consumables upgrade strategy in line with country marketing guidance and priorities.
  • Assist marketing in effective deployment of marketing and value tools to drive competitive selling and secure our existing business.
  • Conduct new product evaluations with KOLs/LOLs as per marketing directions.
  • Perform post-market evaluations as directed.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in eye care equipment (phacoemulsification devices, ophthalmic visualization devices) sales or training, with market experience preferred.
  • Ability to accept long-term travel, with a minimum of 75% surgical follow-up rate.
  • Professional business English skills.
