ESCS ESHQ Director

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced ESCS ESHQ Director to join our team at Evonik. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement ESG strategies and policies to drive sustainability and innovation within the organization.
• Lead the ESHQ team in the development and maintenance of ESG management systems, including goal setting and performance tracking.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including Chinese national laws and regulations, Shanghai local regulations, and SCIP requirements.
• Collaborate with employees, management, and external stakeholders to communicate ESG issues and promote a culture of sustainability and responsibility.
• Supervise and ensure the implementation of safety management actions, including the assessment of ESH risk potential and the design of ESHQ training programs.
• Provide assistance in emergency situations and be responsible for the ESHQ budget, its control, and asset optimization.
• Support investment projects and maintain the Responsible Care (RC) Program.
• Develop and implement ESG continuous improvement programs to improve performance and achieve targets.
• Manage and develop subordinates through coaching, promoting, and team-working, and optimize work processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or above in Chemical, Safety, Environment Engineering, or other engineering fields.
• Minimum 10 years of working experience in ESH fields, including at least 3 years in an international company and 3 years in a junior management position with a team.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, especially in a multicultural environment.
• Excellent English skills, with a plus for German language knowledge.
• Strong decision-making skills, especially in critical situations.
• Solid priority setting and multitasking capabilities.
• Well-motivated for continuous improvements.
