About Us
At HKUST (GZ), we are a pioneering institution committed to academic excellence and innovation. Established in June 2022, our university is a result of a collaborative effort between the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. We have received approval from the Ministry of Education and have become the first legally-independent educational institution co-established by the Mainland and Hong Kong since the announcement of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area development plan.
We are located at No.1 Duxue Road, Qingsheng Hub Cluster, Nansha District, Guangzhou. Our campus spans an area of approximately 1,669 mu (111.3 hectares) and is divided into two construction phases. The first phase covers around 716 mu (47.7 hectares) with a total floor area of about 636,000 square meters (63.6 hectares), which has been officially put into use in September 2022.
Our campus will focus on thematic and cross-disciplinary areas, synergizing with HKUST without overlapping academic degrees or structures. We comprise four Hubs: Function Hub, Information Hub, Systems Hub, and Society Hub, offering 15 postgraduate degrees. At full capacity, we expect a total of 10,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The Carbon Neutrality and Climate Change Thrust at HKUST (GZ) aims to address key national priorities, train next-generation leaders who can tackle global climate change challenges, seize opportunities presented by the new industrial revolution, and develop technical, institutional, and policy solutions for a shared sustainable future. About the Position
The CNCC Thrust invites applications or nominations for multiple faculty positions at all ranks (Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor) in the Thrust Area of Carbon Neutrality and Climate Change. We have a diverse faculty that promotes interdisciplinary research. We welcome applicants with research focuses in the following areas, including but not limited to:
- Carbon Science and Technology
- Climate Change and Governance
- Sustainable Energy Transition
- Climate Finance and Policy
Requirements
Applicants must hold a PhD degree in relevant fields. Senior academics should have proven teaching commitment and performance, experience and readiness in designing cross-disciplinary curricula and programs, and demonstrated service to the academic community and/or the public. English is the primary medium of instruction and administration at HKUST (GZ). Benefits
We offer highly competitive international-standard salaries commensurate with qualifications and experience. Generous research funds, ample laboratory space, and excellent research equipment and support will be provided. Appointment to Professor rank and some Associate Professor rank will be made on a substantive basis with tenure while initial appointments to other tenure-track faculty ranks will be made on a fixed-term contract of up to six years.
