Job Overview

The role involves overseeing the quality assurance processes for structural and mechanical components within the heavy industrial sector. The appointed inspectors will be affiliated with Maersk and will work closely with the Quality Assurance (QA) Department to ensure compliance with established standards and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough onsite inspections of structural and mechanical components, ensuring adherence to project specifications and industry standards.
  • Act as the primary QA contact for specific projects, facilitating communication and reporting.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) to ensure rigorous quality checks are performed.
  • Maintain compliance with working hours and schedules as directed by the QA leadership.
  • Identify and report any non-conformance issues, ensuring corrective actions are taken promptly.
  • Document and report any items requiring rectification from suppliers or manufacturers.
  • Participate in supplier audits and quality management meetings to uphold quality standards.
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of all QA records, submitting them as required.
  • Prepare and deliver inspection results and records in a timely manner.
  • Engage with manufacturers to address quality concerns and foster improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve design-related issues and enhance quality processes.
  • Adapt to project changes while effectively managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of quality inspection procedures.
  • Accurately report time and activities in line with company standards.
  • Adhere to health, safety, security, and environmental regulations at all times.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support the QA objectives.

Reporting Structure:

  • Reports to the designated Project QA contact for inspection-related documentation.
  • Collaborates with the QA Site Team Leader when assigned as the primary QA contact.
  • Reports to the Head of QA Department in the absence of site leadership.

Work Environment:

  • Primary work will be conducted at designated industrial sites, with potential travel to supplier locations as necessary.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality inspection within the heavy equipment manufacturing sector.
  • AWS CWI certification is required; additional certifications in welding inspection or NDT are advantageous.
  • Strong technical knowledge of structural fabrication, welding, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Proficient in English, both written and verbal, with the ability to prepare detailed reports.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Willingness to travel as required for inspections and audits.
