Duration: min 18 months in China (with potential for future assignments)

About the Role:

We are recruiting a seasoned Shipbuilding Superintendent to oversee the construction of several product tankers, operated by one of the world's largest shipbuilding groups. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in ship construction, excellent onsite management skills, and a solid understanding of the Chinese market.

Key Responsibilities:
Full on-site supervision of the newbuild project, from steel cutting to deliveryEnsure all activities comply with class requirements, contractual specs, and international safety standardsCoordinate daily with the shipyard, technical teams, and classification societiesOversee construction schedules, budgets, and progress reportingResolve technical and operational issues on siteRepresent the owner's interest at the yard and ensure quality control throughout the buildReport regularly to headquarters and participate in project review meetings

Candidate Profile:
Minimum 7/10 years of experience in shipbuilding and/or marine constructionSolid background in supervising newbuild product tankers (MR-size preferred)Previous experience working with or in Chinese shipyards strongly preferredKnowledge of the Chinese market; Mandarin is a plusDegree in marine engineering or naval architecture preferredStrong leadership, negotiation, and decision-making skillsWillingness to be based full-time at the yard in China
