Systems Engineering Lead

Summary
The Systems Engineering Lead is responsible for providing direction, leadership, and technical expertise to the local Systems Engineering Team. This role combines advanced systems engineering and architectural responsibilities with people management, ensuring successful execution of projects, valuable team contributions, and continuous improvement of processes. The position interfaces with multiple stakeholders, manages requirements, and guides the team through complex automotive ECU development projects from concept to launch.
Key Responsibilities
Systems Engineering & Architecture
- Review and analyze customer requirements, prepare responses for new business opportunities, and make decisions on design trade-offs.
- Translate stakeholder requirements into technical specifications and system-level requirement documents.
- Lead the definition of system architectures and system requirements.
- Develop system-level architecture and interfaces by collaborating with cross-functional disciplines, considering design-for-cost and design-for-manufacturing aspects.
- Own technical features during product development and provide daily technical guidance for engineering activities.
- Ensure consistency and bilateral traceability of system requirements to system architectural design.
Leadership & Team Management
- Provide direction and leadership to the Systems Engineering Team, including people management and development.
- Support personal development of individual team members to expand and enhance their performance.
- Optimize resource planning and workload balance within the team.
- Deal with escalations and ensure swift, satisfactory resolution.
- Foster a professional, proactive, and 'can-do' attitude with exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
Process Improvement & Project Support
- Continually review internal processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Contribute to development projects by leading sub-projects, providing input to project plans, and supporting customer and supplier communication.
- Conduct critical design reviews, risk analysis, and utilize System-FMEA to enhance safety and design robustness.
Requirements
- University degree in electronics, communication engineering, computer science, or similar.
- Proven expertise in systems engineering and extensive experience in the specification and development of complex embedded electronic systems in the automotive environment.
- Good knowledge of requirements engineering and automotive development processes (V-Modell, ASPICE, agile methods, IATF 16949, ISO 26262, Automotive SPICE, etc.).
- Strong leadership skills, with a passion for people development and engagement.
- Professional, goal-oriented, structured, diligent, and independent work ethic.
- Excellent networking, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a high-pressure, international, multi-site environment.
- Experience in taking customer requirements and converting them into technical specifications.
- Expert knowledge in relevant technical domains (e.g., embedded systems, hardware/software design, automotive protocols, cybersecurity, functional safety, etc.).
