About the Role

As part of the senior leadership team, and reporting to the Executive Principal, the successful candidate will drive forward the quality of pastoral provision across the school, providing strategic direction whilst ensuring that every pupil is valued and encouraged to develop to their full potential in all areas of school lifeincluding school's CCA program and 5-day boarding program (6th-12th grade). In this crucial role, the post-holder will work in close alignment with the Executive Principal, the Director of Teaching &Learning and the heads of school sections to ensure that the experience for all pupils is developed in its broadest sense by forging stronglinks between the academic, co-curricular and boarding lives of the school. This role supervises and liaises with the deputy heads of pastoral of each school section, Head of CCA, Head of boarding to monitor and support students' needs and achievements, organize campus life and safety, plan and oversee evening traditions and activities, and communicate with the full scope of faculty and parents.

THE POST ENTAILS:

  • Working in collaboration with the heads of school sections, ancillary staff and pastoral coordinators to ensure first-rate pastoral care, and leading all teaching staff in this provision
  • Providing leadership of the House system, working closely with the Head of Houses to develop a strong sense of House identity through strong pastoral provision and a well-planned programme of engaging activities
  • Serving as the Child Protection Coordinator for all safeguarding matters and related issues, and undertaking appropriate training as required
  • Recording and filing records of all Child Protection incidents in a secure and confidential manner
  • Planning and delivering staff INSET on safeguarding issues, including bullying, cyberbullying and online safety, and contributing to the induction of new staff by introducing relevant policies and practices
  • Liaising with parents and outside agencies, as appropriate, to develop positive relationships with those both within and beyond the school community
  • Leading on promoting positive behaviour amongst pupils
  • Acting as line manager for Head of CCA, Head of boarding and Head of House
  • Contributing to school-wide strategic planning as a member of the Senior Leadership Team
  • Coordinating the production and distribution of all pastoral information to parents prior to their children starting at our school
  • Planning and overseeing the schedule of pastoral information events for parents
  • Assisting in the coordination of the Duty Rotas (for whole school lunch duties etc.)
  • Establishing contact with appropriate welfare agencies in accordance with national guidelines
  • Overseas and develop the current CCA program with Head of CCA
  • Ensuring that the Executive Principal and the Heads of School remain well informed about current issues involving parents, pupils and colleagues

The post will be suitable for candidates with:

  • Prior senior management experience in Pastoral.
  • Experience of working within a boarding environment, either in the UK or internationally
  • Excellent leadership, organisation, presentational and management skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively and cross-culturally to help lead the development of the school into a world-class learning environment
