The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), ("HKUST(GZ)"), was officially approved by the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China to enter the preparatory status in September 2019. Located in Nansha, Guangzhou, the campus covers 1.13 square kilometers and the first phase of construction is expected to be completed by September 2022. At steady state, the number of undergraduate and postgraduate students will reach a total of 10,000. Under the "Unified HKUST, Complementary Campuses" framework, the intended areas of focus in HKUST(GZ) will be thematic and cross-disciplinary in nature, synergistic with HKUST, a world-renowned international research university with innovation in her DNA. There will be four Academic Hubs (equivalent to schools) with 16 Thrust Areas (equivalent to departments).

The laboratory serves university research teams and corporate R&D institutions by providing end-to-end technical solutions such as aerodynamic performance analysis and fluid dynamics testing, helping clients tackle complex engineering challenges. Candidates must rapidly familiarize themselves with core instruments (e.g., wind tunnels, water tunnels, 3D Particle Image Velocimetry systems) and the laboratory's daily operational status. Additionally, he/she will collaborate with the technical team to develop equipment maintenance and upgrade plans, ensuring experimental accuracy aligns with cutting-edge industry demands.

Duties
The duties of the Low-Speed Wind Tunnel/Water Tunnel Supervisor/Deputy Supervisor include, but are not limited to:

1. Oversee daily laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance, safety management, budgeting, resource allocation, and ensuring efficient laboratory functioning.
2. Establish and improve laboratory management systems, promote technological innovation and standardized processes, and ensure compliance with industry regulations and safety standards.
3. Coordinate laboratory resources to support research projects led by faculty teams and external collaborators and facilitate technology transfer and industry-academia-research collaboration.
4. Participate in academic exchanges and industry conferences to enhance the laboratory's influence and expand collaborative opportunities.

职责:
低速风洞/水洞的科长/副科长的职责包括但不限于:
1. 统筹实验室日常运营,包括设备维护、安全管理、经费预算及资源调配,确保实验室高效运转;
2. 建立并完善实验室管理制度,推动技术创新与标准化流程建设,确保符合行业规范及安全标准;
3. 协调实验室资源支持教授团队及外部合作单位的科研项目,推动成果转化与产学研合作;
4. 参与学术交流、行业会议,提升实验室影响力,开拓合作资源。

任职要求
Qualification Requirements
1. Educational Background: PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Navigation Guidance and Control, Fluid Mechanics, Aerodynamics, or related engineering fields, with 3+ years of relevant experience. Candidates must:
 Be familiar with testing procedures and data analysis for low-speed wind tunnels/water tunnels.
 Demonstrate the ability to independently lead scientific research projects.
 Prior management experience in wind tunnel/water tunnel laboratories, research platforms, or large-scale testing institutions is preferred.
2. Leadership & Coordination: Strong team leadership and cross-departmental coordination skills, with familiarity in university operations and management mechanisms.
3. Industry Expertise: Good professional network within the industry and familiarity with the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-related sector.
4. Research Achievements: Preference given to candidates with high-impact publications in related fields or experience participating in major research projects.

任职要求:
1. 航空航天工程、导航制导与控制、流体力学、空气动力学等相关工科专业,博士3年及以上相关工作经验,熟悉低速风洞/水洞测试流程及数据分析,具备独立主持科研项目能力,有风洞/水洞实验室、科研平台或大型试验机构管理经验优先;
2. 具备卓越的团队领导力与跨部门协调能力,熟悉高校运行和管理机制;
3. 具备良好的业内人际关系,熟悉无人飞行器相关产业;
4. 发表过相关领域高水平论文或参与重大科研项目者优先。

This is a Mainland appointment, and the appointee will be offered a contract by HKUST(GZ) entity in accordance with the Mainland labor laws and regulations. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
