We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Director, Innovation and Digital Partnerships
Responsibilities
We are seeking a talented candidate with an entrepreneurship mindset to join a growing team as the global director for Innovation and Digital Partnerships, based in China. This is a critical role that will be responsible for driving innovation, partnerships and opportunities with Chinese technology providers, innovation hubs, and universities, in areas where China excels, bringing the best of Chinese tech and innovation to HSBC Group. As a key player, you'll spearhead initiatives in areas ripe for disruption, leveraging HSBC's unique strengths to secure our competitive edge. In addition, the role will play a role to support the HSBC China business and Chinese tech centers with a holistic innovation agenda.
- Tech Partnership: Spearhead strategic partnerships with Chinese technology entities to foster growth and unlock commercial opportunities across diverse innovation themes, incorporating structured management and executive sponsorship.
- Strategic Partnership Development: Identify, assess, and establish strategic alliances with premier innovation hubs and technology organisations. These partnerships should align with HSBC's strategic objectives, leveraging Chinese innovation across transformative technologies to benefit HSBC Group on a large scale.
- Identify and Address Disruptors: Continuously monitor and challenge the organisation on emerging disruptors and opportunities from both traditional and non-traditional competitors in China.
- Drive Strategic Pursuits and Innovation: Formulate and execute strategic initiatives in collaboration with key stakeholders, focusing on areas with significant disruption potential in financial services.
- Market Analysis: Keep abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in China, offering insights and recommendations to the HSBC Group.
- University Partnerships: Lead strategic academic partnerships to advance research and talent development in areas where China demonstrates exceptional expertise.
- Relationship Management: Cultivate and sustain robust relationships with senior executives, product managers, and technical teams from partner companies.
- Innovation Planning: Manage the innovative roadmap pipeline between HSBC and its partners. This includes identifying mutual interests and collaboration opportunities, consolidating ideas, and guiding partner discussions to the appropriate sponsors.
- Solution Delivery: Oversee the execution of joint innovation projects, ensuring deliverables are met and solutions are of high quality.
Governance and Committee Memberships (membership of ExCos, Risk Management Meeting):
Part of the Group Innovation and Digital Partnerships leadership team and HSBC China technology leadership team. Will participate in various forums and committees as aligned to the role once defined.

Qualifications
Functional Knowledge
- Chinese Tech and Innovation landscape: Possesses extensive knowledge of the Chinese innovation ecosystems, particularly in AI and other emerging technologies.
- Competitive Intelligence and Market Trends: A robust understanding of competitive analysis and the latest trends in financial services, including disruptors such as neobanks, fintechs, and technologies like AI and blockchain.
- Stakeholder engagement: Strong grasp of engaging with diverse stakeholders, covering business, technology and external partnerships, to align innovation efforts with bank priorities.
- Collaboration: Experience in facilitating cross-functional workshops and innovation sprints to drive group-wide impact.
- Strategic: Proven track record in defining and leading strategies. Ability to formulate and execute high-impact strategic pursuits in collaboration with businesses and partners.
- Strategic Partnership Development: Expertise in identifying, evaluating and establishing partnerships with Big Techs, innovation hubs and technology organisations
- Academic engagements: Knowledge in designing and managing global academic technology research programs, or experience in fostering partnerships with universities, aligning research with financial services priorities.
- Executive Sponsorship and Influence: Skills in engaging and securing executive sponsorship to drive
