More about the role

This is an exciting job opportunity for you to light the way as an Senior System Architect in Shanghai with Signify.

· System Architecture & Design:

  · Define and document the end-to-end system architecture for smart lighting solutions, including sensors, gateways, controllers, cloud platforms, and user interfaces.

  · Develop architectural blueprints, interface control documents, and data flow diagrams.

  · Select and integrate core technologies for sensing, connectivity, data processing, and control algorithms.

· Technical Leadership & Strategy:

  · Lead technology selection and make critical decisions regarding protocols, platforms, and frameworks.

  · Drive the innovation roadmap for incorporating AI/ML, data analytics, and predictive maintenance into lighting systems.

  · Evaluate and prototype new technologies to ensure our architecture remains state-of-the-art.

· Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  · Work closely with Hardware, Firmware, Software, and Cloud engineering teams to ensure the architecture is correctly implemented.

  · Collaborate with Product Management to translate customer needs and market trends into technical requirements.

  · Guide UX/UI designers to ensure intuitive and effective user control interfaces.

· Lifecycle & Quality Ownership:

  · Establish and enforce architectural principles, coding standards, and best practices for security, scalability, and reliability.

  · Oversee system integration, performance testing, and troubleshooting of complex issues.

  · Ensure the system design meets key performance indicators (KPIs) for latency, power consumption, uptime, and security.

· Education:

  · Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication, Automation, or a related field.

· Experience:

  · 7+ years of progressive experience in embedded systems, IoT, or control systems engineering, with at least 3 years in an architecture or lead design role.

  · Proven track record of architecting and delivering at least one commercially successful IoT or smart device product from concept to launch.

· Technical Skills - Essential:

  · Embedded Systems: Deep expertise in embedded C/C++ development for resource-constrained microcontrollers (e.g., ARM Cortex-M series).

  · IoT Protocols & Connectivity: Mastery of wireless protocols essential for lighting, including Bluetooth Mesh, Zigbee, Thread, and Wi-Fi. Knowledge of wired systems (DALI, 0-10V, KNX) is a strong plus.

  · Cloud & Backend: Solid experience with IoT cloud platforms (e.g., AWS IoT Core, Azure IoT Hub, Google Cloud IoT) and designing RESTful APIs and MQTT brokers.

  · Software/Firmware Architecture: Proficiency in designing modular, real-time, and event-driven firmware architectures.

  · Sensing & Control Theory: Strong understanding of sensor technologies (PIR, ambient light, color) and feedback control loops.

· Technical Skills - Preferred:

  · Experience with data analytics, machine learning models for occupancy prediction, energy optimization, and anomaly detection.

  · Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for IoT devices and networks.

  · Familiarity with DevOps/CI-CD pipelines for embedded systems.

  · Experience with energy management standards and sustainability practices.
