Job Summary:
A Head Bartender is responsible for supervising bar operations, managing staff, creating and maintaining the drink menu, and ensuring excellent customer service. This role involves managing inventory, controlling costs, enforcing safety regulations, and handling administrative duties like scheduling and training. The head bartender acts as a liaison between staff and management to maintain a smooth-running and profitable bar.
Key responsibilities:- Staff management:
Train, supervise, and schedule bar staff, delegate tasks, and address employee issues. Form a stable winning team that become the bar identity.
- Customer service:
Ensure high-quality customer experiences, take orders, mix drinks, and resolve complaints.
- Menu and quality control:
Create and update the cocktail menu, ensure consistent quality of all drinks, and provide expert recommendations to customers.
- Inventory and cost management:
Manage bar inventory, perform stock takes, place orders, and monitor beverage costs to meet financial targets.
- Operations and compliance:
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the bar area, ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, and oversee opening and closing procedures.
- Administrative tasks:
Handle administrative duties, including managing the point-of-sale (POS) system and other office procedures.
