This function brings together distinct specialisms to drive greater connectivity in how we manage engagement with key stakeholders for HSBC.

Finance teams provide the bank with internal and external financial reporting, forecasting, controls oversight, and stress testing expertise. Specialist areas also manage HSBC's worldwide tax affairs, group treasury needs, and events for investors and analysts.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team.
Global Markets Product Control is a division of MSS Finance responsible for the production and independent validation of Global Markets' profit and loss and balance sheet. Overall, Product Control ensures that accounting policies are correctly and consistently applied and that trading portfolios are appropriately valued.

In This Role, You Will

  • Providing guidance/Supervising a team of Product Controllers (including providing oversight to offshore Product Controllers) to ensure accurate valuation of GM desk books, perform daily P&L analysis and review, Fair Value Adjustments, understand variance of trader P&L estimates to actual P&L, P&L attribution, Independent Price Verification, and other valuation adjustments.
  • Ensuring accurate and efficient controls and accounting for GM transactions, in accordance with local and Group requirements, and maintaining a rigorous independent and effective control environment.
  • Ensuring accuracy of financial and management reporting, including P&L and Balance Sheet commentaries and substantiation. Perform daily oversight of PC nearshoring team, work and communicate closely with offshore staff.
  • Be responsible for the review of new Global Markets Product proposals and new business initiatives for responsible areas by ensuring that appropriate infrastructure and controls are in place to support any changes in the business.
  • Be responsible for applicable ad hoc tasks, including but not limited to responses to local/overseas regulators including using local language, system development/enhancements, people managements etc

Qualifications
To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • University degree preferably in Accounting and Finance /Mathematics or Engineering.
  • A comprehensive working knowledge of GM products, is a must.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with can do attitude.
  • Proven capacity to effectively prioritize tasks under time pressing environments.
  • The ideal candidate would have requisite experience in Product Control/Finance and team management experience.
