Brief description of the position:

This role focuses on solution architect activities in logistics and quality assurance domain of Volkswagen Group Region China. He/she will be accountable for planning, designing and optimizing technological solutions that enhance the efficiency of business operations and ensure high quality production. 

Key Tasks:

  • Define systems architectures, integration scenarios and coordinate with Domain Architect to meet overall landscape target for Region China to be presented and approved in the corresponding boards.
  • Develop/optimize solution architectures, further develop reference architectures and standards, new technologies and promote their adoption in domain in line with business strategy.
  • Gain a deep understanding of business needs and propose reference architectures that meet customer requirements. Evaluate, recommend and adopt products, tools, frameworks, etc.
  • Consult projects on architectural measures, identify technical gaps between local requirements and Group solutions in Group rollout projects with subject matter experts, PMs, BU and IT security.
  • Identify technical gaps between local requirements and group solutions, and resulting risks (e.g. stability, performance, maintainability, standard compliance) following sEADM methodology and derive.
  • Know global technology and industry trends, evaluate applicability and integrate into products and projects. Implement appropriate solutions meeting functional and non-functional business requirement.
  • Coordinate project teams to ensure the effective implementation & timely issue resolution, identify potential technical risks, develop mitigation strategies, remove obstacles to ensure timely delivery.
  • Safeguard an efficient, fast, and reliable delivery system, high adaptability and flexibility development methods and tools, CI/CD development practices that improve the speed and quality of delivery.
  • Functional Management and Guidance of Junior Developers with regards to Problem Resolution, Development Approaches and Techniques as well as Troubleshooting, Testing and Architectures.
  • Timely complete other data and business intelligence related tasks assigned by the line manager / supervisor.

Qualification and skills:

  • Masters degree in Computer Science, IT, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 8+ years in software development/architecture, with 3+ years as a Solution Architect.
  • Manufacturing/Automotive Industry Experience preferred.
  • Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Proficiency in architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman) and modeling tools (UML, ArchiMate).
  • Strong knowledge of APIs, microservices, databases (SQL/NoSQL), and security standards (OAuth, SAML).
  • Agile coaching experience, DevOps processes&Tools know-how
  • Strategic mindset with a focus on balancing innovation, risk, and business value.
  • Great communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
