Senior Staff Product Designer

We are seeking a Senior Staff Product Designer to anchor our Beijing design team. This role is a senior IC role with regional, team leader responsibilities: you will represent design in cross-functional planning sessions with Beijing leadership, own and deliver our most critical projects, and champion the creation of a unified design system across the platform. You'll mentor local designers, collaborate closely with engineering leadership, and ensure user advocacy and accessibility remain central in an engineering-driven culture. This is a pivotal role for Conviva's future—helping us scale a global design practice while shaping the next generation of AI-enhanced product experiences.

What Success Looks Like:

• Represent design in Beijing leadership: Advocate for user needs and design quality in product strategy and cross-functional planning sessions, ensuring the design voice is respected in an engineering-driven culture.
• Own and deliver critical projects: Take responsibility for Beijing's most complex and strategically important product initiatives, producing high-quality, production-ready designs that balance user needs, technical feasibility, and business outcomes.
• Champion the design system: Lead the creation and adoption of a unified design system across regions. Partner with engineering leadership in Beijing and globally to establish standards, secure buy-in, and ensure scalable, consistent design patterns for the entire platform.
• Drive regional design excellence: Work to set the bar for design craft in Beijing by modeling best practices, reviewing work rigorously, and ensuring project-level quality across the team.
• Mentor and coach designers: Guide and grow Beijing-based designers through daily stand-ups, feedback sessions, and project coaching. Provide clarity and confidence while fostering professional growth.
• Collaborate globally: Align with the Senior Director of Product Design (HQ) and the regional design lead in India. Meet regularly to coordinate on platform-wide challenges, share best practices, and evolve the global design vision together.
• Advocate with influence: Communicate design decisions in business and engineering terms, building credibility with senior stakeholders through clear, outcome-driven storytelling.
• Advance AI design practice: Champion the integration of AI and automation into product experiences in ways that are transparent, ethical, and confidence-building for users.

Who You Are and What You've Done:

• 10+ years of professional product design experience, including experience at American or global technology companies.
• Strong mastery of English communication (spoken and written), with proven ability to operate effectively in cross-cultural and distributed teams.
• Demonstrated track record of leading design on complex, enterprise-scale products—owning critical projects end-to-end from discovery through delivery.
• Proven experience mentoring and coaching other designers, with the ability to run stand-ups, guide projects, and elevate design quality across a region.
• Expertise in creating and institutionalizing design systems, including driving engineering buy-in and ensuring adoption across teams.
• Ability to represent design with credibility in leadership and product strategy forums, influencing peers and executives in engineering-driven organizations.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating excellence in both design craft and strategic thinking, with examples of AI-augmented or data-intensive product experiences.
• Demonstrated advocacy for accessible design practices (WCAG compliance, inclusive patterns), with the ability to embed accessibility into systems and team workflows.
• Experience designing complex B2B SaaS or enterprise workflow products, with fluency in multi-step flows, role-based needs, and cross-functional tradeoffs.

Preferred

• Experience working in both Chinese and Western business environments, with demonstrated cultural fluency and situational leadership.
• Prior experience collaborating directly with engineering leadership on design systems or platform-level initiatives.
• Familiarity with ethical and UX approaches to designing AI-enhanced user experiences.
• Background in analytics or other data-rich product environments.
