Purpose of the job
We are sourcing for an effective Team Lead to who is able to develop and execute strategic plans for product categories to drive profitability. This role will require you to collaborate with client engagement teams to develop effective product messaging, positioning and communication strategies. The successful applicant will also need to develop relationships with key vendors/suppliers to improve category offering ensuring to negotiate favorable terms. The role is in the Luxury Packaging sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute long-term strategies for a specific product category to align with overall business objectives.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activity to make data-driven decisions on product selection, pricing, and promotions.
  • Vendor & Supplier Management: Negotiate with and build strong relationships with suppliers to secure favorable terms, improve product quality, and ensure product availability.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and report on category performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with teams like marketing, sales, supply chain, and merchandising to ensure category plans are executed effectively.
  • Pricing & Promotions: Set pricing strategies and develop promotional campaigns to drive sales and category visibility.
  • Product Assortment: Manage the product range and assortment to meet customer demand and ensure profitability

Knowledge, Skills + Experience

  • SA bachelor's degree in business, marketing or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of the consumer behavior and retail trends.
  • Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, category management tools and software for data analysis and reporting.
  • Knowledge of the luxury packaging industry
  • Strong people/team managements skills
  • Knowledge of inventory management and demand forecasting techniques.
  • Understanding of pricing strategies, margin analysis and profitability optimization.
  • Experience in vendor management and negotiations.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and using analytics tools.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
