Library Assistant

Job Responsibilities:

l   Performs circulation duties such as check-in and check-out of library/ Resource Room materials, registering users and updating user information;

l   Assists students and staff in the use of online catalog or databases;

l   Performs a variety of clerical and computer-related tasks as assigned;

l   Prepares circulation desk for services on a daily basis;

l   Shelving, straightening and shelf reading of library materials;

l   Assists in accessing and processing print and non-print materials for circulation;

l   Assists in cataloging and maintenance of bibliographic records;

l   Handles overdue and reservations;

l   Keep tracks with the payment for lost or damaged materials;

l   Assists in set-up of displays and signage;

l   Receives and deals with initial information requests;

l   Help to co-ordinate with parent volunteers with miscellaneous tasks;

l   Develops job-related abilities, skills and knowledge;

l   Help to maintain the library as a welcoming and peaceful learning place;

l   Assists in the community programs related to library activities;

l   Performs other duties as assigned by the Teacher Librarians, Principal, School Heads or any designee.

l   Holder of the Certificate of Library Assistant (or equivalent);

l   Fresh graduates would also be considered

l   Work experience in a school library environment would be a plus;

l   Good knowledge of Chinese and English word processing, library information systems and other office software applications, e.g. Publisher;

l   Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin);

l   Able to work independently, effective organizational and interpersonal skills; and

l   Provides exemplary customer service in Library at all times.
