We are looking for a Head of Lower School for an International School in Chongqing. This is a full-time position starting from the upcoming academic year in August 2024.

 

About the school

An international school situated in the Liangjiang New Area of Chongqing offers world-class education to its K-12 (Kindergarten, Primary, Middle and High School divisions) students in a bilingual setting. It is housed on an expansive area of 135,000 sqm, with the capacity to host 2,400 pupils, 540 of which are boarders.

 

Job Description

We are seeking a visionary and committed Head of Lower School to lead our lower school division. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fostering a nurturing and academically challenging environment that supports the growth and development of young learners.

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the lower school, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment for all students
  • Lead, develop, and evaluate the lower school curriculum, ensuring it meets both the educational standards and the needs of the students
  • Mentor and support teachers and staff, promoting professional development, innovative teaching practices, and a collaborative work environment
  • Work closely with parents and guardians, facilitating strong school-family partnerships and addressing concerns related to student progress and wellbeing
  • Implement strategies to monitor and assess student academic performance and social-emotional development, using data to drive instructional decisions
  • Coordinate with other heads and the school administration to align lower school objectives with the overall strategic goals of the institution
  • Manage the lower school budget, allocating resources efficiently to enhance educational programs and student experiences
  • Lead recruitment, hiring, and retention efforts for lower school teachers and staff
  • Promote an inclusive school culture that values diversity and equity, ensuring all students have the opportunity to succeed
  • Organize and oversee lower school events, activities, and assemblies that contribute to the school community and student engagement

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field
  • A valid teaching certification
  • Extensive experience in elementary education, with a proven track record of effective leadership in an international educational setting
  • Strong knowledge of child development, educational theories, and best practices in elementary education
