Overview

The position holder will be responsible for metallurgy R&D activities to support the development of the aluminum sheet related technology, process and method based on business needs.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities:

Demonstrate personal commitment to safety by following Novelis safety rules and equipment operating processes. Overall accountability for ensuring safety as the #1 priority. Use your expertise to develop new Aluminum alloy related to advanced properties in the field of high strength, high ductility, high corrosion resistance and low cost. Serve as key researcher on critical initiatives conducting research with little to no guidance. Independently apply the underlying principles of a technical discipline to set up and execute complex analyses. Provide technical leadership and support to cross-functional teams for feasibility studies to analyze the commercial and technical viability of new products and processes. Lead and work collaboratively with our internal partners to execute lab/pilot/plant scale trials. Create intellectual property to differentiate Novelis from the competition and have opportunities to present/publish your work at leading industry conferences/journals. Enhance our R&D capability including novel methods and techniques, equipment and quality.

Education:

PhD degree in scientific related discipline, metallurgy or material science or related field.

Qualifications:

Fully competent career professional with broad understanding of the relevant principles, theories and concepts within metallurgy (Aluminum) area of specialization. Profound expertise in the field of metallurgy, especially Al alloys development (Al sheet development experience preferred). Profound experience of material characterization techniques (SEM, EBSD, EDS, XRF, GDOES, ICP, XRF, FTIR, . A passion for technical breakthroughs and a track record in demonstrating rigor in problem solving by isolating a problem and drawing upon your knowledge and experience to design an appropriate, well-controlled experiment to identify root cause and possible solutions. Strong data analysis skills, communication skills and ability to transfer complex technical concepts to peers and upper management.  Project Management experience with multiple projects. High level of creativity and self-initiative. Smooth communication skills and advanced English language.
