Summary:

The Lighting Specialist is responsible for meeting and exceeding sales targets of lighting products. This individual will work with the other members of the Lighting Team as well as branch staff and customers to produce timely, professional lighting designs, energy audits, technical reports and documents. They will also evaluate opportunities to provide Graybar lighting solutions and recommend products based on performance requirements.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Willingness to learn the lighting industry at an accelerated pace to compliment your superior sales skills.
  • Promote lighting sales to existing commercial, industrial and institutional accounts, as well as identify and solicit potential clients.
  • Assess clients' needs and resources and recommend the appropriate goods or services.
  • Provide input into product design when goods or services must be tailored to suit client's needs.
  • Develop lighting solution proposals as part of sales presentations that illustrate product benefits.
  • Prepare energy efficient lighting and retro-fit recommendations, cost analysis and payback calculations.
  • Prepare customer quotations and assist customers by recommending lighting products.
  • Consult with clients after sale to provide ongoing technical support, ensure customer satisfaction and to resolve problems.
  • Work closely with supplier partners to meet sales objectives.
  • Develop and present customer-oriented information sessions consisting of new product information and legislation, design information and computer aided lighting design demonstrations throughout the province.
  • Remain current on industry trends, changes in codes and standards and product developments by attending sales meetings, vendor training and trade shows, or reading trade journals.
  • Strive for continuous improvement.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Must have a "hunter" mentality when it comes to sales.
  • Sales experience combined with a technical certificate/diploma, lighting certification (LC) or business degree is preferred. However, all programs will be considered.
  • Preference will be given to those with experience and a passion for sales.
  • Knowledge of lighting products is an asset; however, training will be provided.
  • Must be self-motivated and exhibit excellent time management and organizational skills to consistently meet project deadlines.
  • Possess strong relationship building skills to cultivate and develop customer loyalty.
  • Practice excellent spoken and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Some experience with AutoCAD or other CAD software is advantageous.
  • Experience with lighting layout / design software (AGi32 or Acuity Visual) considered an asset.
  • Have proven proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel
