Objective of Job

China's technology has grown significantly in recent years thanks to a continued wave of innovative, competitive technology companies. A proper understanding of the state of China’s technology industry and it’s meaning for the automobile industry absolutely essential.

- Research and analyze the advanced technical trend of Automobile industry, focus with China innovation field. 
- Active scouting of tech-leading Chinese companies to explore new opportunities from business and technology perspective. Ensure early integration into development portfolio and build up potential cooperation.
- Organize cross-department Technology scouting process and tech-scouting related management committees
- Proof of technology feasibility by creating concepts or prototypes jointly with relevant RD departments. Close cooperation with innovation product management colleague to implement innovative PoC to MB vehicles.
- Lead the cooperation between RD departments with Top University.
- Together with internal mergers & acquisitions department to explore more cooperation opportunities with external industry funds and enrich current cooperation modal. 
- Support steering of strategic technology roadmap for RD China.

Task Description (responsible domain infotainment & connectivity)

1. Technology Scouting
Build-up network with tech-leading companies to identify potential collaboration partners. Provide deeper understanding of the state of China’s technology industry. Organize management company visits. 

2. Advanced Technology Trend Analyze
Identify and monitor future technologies trend and support Mercedes Technology and Product strategy.

3. Proof of concept 
Close cooperation with innovation product management colleague to identify potential tech-companies to proof feasibility of identified new technology/innovation areas. 

4. Cooperation with Top University
With a certain sensitivity to trigger the potential cooperation projects and bridge RD department with right team or lab in the University together. End to end steer the project progress and final delivery. Support needed joint events, e.g. expert talk, management visit, steering committee meeting, some needed ceremonies … 

5. Cooperation with external industry funds
Together with internal mergers & acquisitions department extend the cooperation with external industry funds to get early access to Start-Ups & Capture industry tech trend. 

6. Technology roadmap
Support steering process of strategic technology roadmap creation to ensure China-fitting product development roadmap

Qualifikationen

Qualification

- Master Degree or above
- 5+ years working experience of Automobile Research & Development, Technical benchmark or innovation management in OEM, or in related consulting company. 
- Fluent in English and Chinese is must, able to work across with multi culture project team. German is a plus
- Good network within R&D and to leading Chinese Tech-companies 
- Comprehensive knowledge about Automobile industry technologies, especially new technology for hardware or software
- Strong communication skill is required
- Assertive and able to work independently and cope with uncertainties and dynamics
- Experience product development 
- Open-minded and creative thinking
