About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Test Engineer to help on test and qualify lighting products for both retail and professional markets globally.

As a test engineer you will be part of both in-house development projects and JDM/ODM/OEM development projects. For in-house projects you will be part of ensuring that our products are verified and validated according to specification. For JDM/ODM/OEM development projects you will be part of the entire process from sourcing JDM/ODM/OEM suppliers to delivering products according to specification. This includes working with suppliers focusing on ensuring product verification and validation as agreed and in accordance with standards and conducting critical tests in-house or at 3rd parties. All this in close cooperation with both Systems Engineers, Project Managers and Product Managers.

As Senior T&V Engineer you will become part of a talented team of engineers in our Shenzhen Development Center SDC) and refer to Lighting, R&D Engineering, Harman Professional Solutions.

What You Will Do

In close cooperation with the Systems Engineer, the Test Engineer performs and manages tests for in-house projects and/or supports the JDM/ODM/OEM suppliers in executing product test and verification plans that are in accordance with standards, reviews all test documentation and associated reports, and conducts critical tests in-house or at 3rd party test facilities.

Manage test plans and perform test and verification activities for In-house development projects according to the Product Requirement Specification (PRS), International standards, and product use-scenarios. Support test and verification activities at JDM/ODM/OEM supplier according to the Product Requirement Specification (PRS), International standards, and product use-scenarios. Critical review of all test and verification documentation and associated reports. Contribute to design reviews of samples, prototypes, and 0-series products, incl. FMEA and knowledge sharing. Plan, execute, analyze, and document test and verification activities in-house or at 3rd party. Ensure availability of test equipment, either in-house or at 3rd party. Ensure proper product test documentation. Participate actively in development project engineering risk assessments and support defining and executing proper technical risk mitigation plans. Communicate closely with Systems Engineer (and Project Manager). Provide effort estimates for own work packages to project management within product development projects. Support delivering products to the market on scope, time, cost, and quality. Support quality assurance and supplier quality control. Ensure or execute relevant performance measurements of products. Act as a role model within discipline; especially for peers, engineers and technicians. Scout for discipline-specific input to technology and platform roadmaps.

What You Need

BS in engineering, e.g. Software, Mechanical or Electrical, and min. 8 years’ experience in test and verification of electro-mechanical products. Experience with software testing. Experience with reliability testing including application relevant stress tests, vibration test, temperature tests, IPxx test and humidity tests, etc. Strong interest for product test/qualification and product quality. Analytic, systematic, and pro-active approach to test and verification tasks. Strong interest in technical root cause analysis. Able to organize own time to ensure project progress. Fluent in Chinese and English speech and writing. Comfortable with fast-paced and multitasking environment. Experience on development quality management and compliance & Certification requirement. Experience with Lighting products.

What is Nice to Have

5+ years solid experience in development quality management on professional stage lighting, Architecture lighting and Industrial lighting, etc. Good knowledge in optical systems/component performance evaluation, validation, calibration and judgement… Good knowledge in professional lighting applications for touring, install with experiences in system integration. Firmware background, or Familiar with the applications of Lighting control protocol, specific to DMX, RDM, and P3…. Ability to handle a variety of projects simultaneously. Ability to attend group meetings and communicate effectively. Strong communication skills. Work with a local and global team. Experience with JDM/ODM/OEM supplier management. Experience with products for indoor and outdoor use (application environment) and associated standards. Experience with products for rental market and fixed installation (application environment) and associated standards. Experience with professional market (B2B) and associated standards. Experience with retail market (B2C) and associated standards.
