The Role

We are looking for a Legal Counsel, reporting to the General Counsel EMEA/APAC. You will be responsible for providing ongoing legal counselling in a wide range of legal areas within the Company, such as preparing and reviewing agreements, data privacy issues, corporate secretary management, general compliance requests and different legal daily consultations referred to the Chinese territory. The position will be based in Markem-Imaje (China) Co., Ltd located at Shanghai. 

 

What you will do:

  • Complete routine legal work, including but not limited to: assist with Contract review and processes, prepare and review routine contracts, work on required contract templates, and support proper maintenance of legal records. 
  • Provide Legal advice and service in support of the local operations.
  • Preparation of Legal trainings to different departments of the Company.
  • Local legal regulatory tracking.
  • Follow-up on ongoing litigations of the Company.
  • Assist in protecting the Company's legal interest, supporting in daily legal requests and maintain its operations within the scope established by law.
  • Provide Legal advice concerning Data Privacy requests. 
  • Review corporate documents and liaise with outside counsel on corporate matters. Supervise and support as to the formalization, review, signature and recordkeeping of corporate documentation, powers of attorney and delegations.
  • General Compliance work related to trainings, review Code of Conducts, Ethics Code and self-assessment, Anti-Corruption matters and Investigation with the support of the EMEA Compliance manager.

 

What you need to have:

  • Law School Degree. Legal Professional Qualification of PRC obtained in 2017 or earlier.
  • Legal background and more than 5 years at International Companies Legal/Compliance Inhouse position and at least in two companies for experience background.
  • Contract negotiation and review expertise.
  • General Compliance expertise.

 

Ideal Competencies (NICE TO HAVE):

  • Excellent Legal, verbal and writing, skills in Chinese and English.
  • Good understanding of local and international environment.
  • Strong delivery focus and organizational skills to deliver to agreed timescales.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including influencing, negotiation and presentation.
