Why does this position exist? With what permanent objectives?
BASF has been a committed partner to Great China since 1885, with large production sites in Shanghai, Nanjing, and Chongqing. Currently with an investment of up to US$10 billion, the new integrated site in Guangdong will be BASF’s largest investment and ultimately BASF’s third-largest site worldwide, operated under sole responsibility of BASF. BASF will install a steam cracker with a planned capacity of 1 million metric tons/year of ethylene and more than 40 process plants, which produce innovative and consumer-oriented downstream products, providing supply chain service is vital for the success of the new Verbund site.
This position will assist bulk parcel manager to solve various issues and facilitate all related activities at external terminal and shore tank which outside BASF Zhanjiang Verbund site in a way that is cost efficient, seamless operation and in compliance to all the rules, regulation and standard set the organization as well as the industry.

Main Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities
1. Liaise and coordinate with external terminal and shipowner in fixing BASF arrival vessel berthing prospects and expedite vessel turnaround more efficient, to avoid or reduce demurrage or other additional cost.
2. Coordination on the arrangements of ancillary support service (for example, N2 purging, prewash, slop disposal, delivery of cleaning solvent etc.) for BASF shipment as required.
3. Providng suport for business unit distribution on handling of chartered shore tank, cargo quality control, non-conformance or any related matter to reduce the operational costs and improve performance.
4. Providing support for business unit distribution to deal with all operational issues related on cargo loading and discharging as well as all incidental safety related matter. Ensure that effective measure is implemented timely to improve customer satisfaction.
5. Establish a close network with relevant departments both internal and external such as local distribution business unit, external terminal site, business unit, Vetting, local government authority, pilot station, agent etc.
6. Support on visibility of ullage and flow rate on chartered shore tank to improve transparency of cargo management.
7. Providing support on cost element identity and tracking of cost development for KPI and cost reporting if required by business unit distribution.

 Bachelor’s degree in either of the following disciplines: chemistry, technical of navigation, transportation, logistics or supply chain management, or equivalent.
 College degree can be accepted if have enrich working experience or excellent talents.
 Minimum 5-8 years of experience in parcel tanker shipping company or tank terminal operation and tank farm management handling or minimum 2 years chief officer experience or master experience in chemical tanker shipping company.
 Have certain professional knowledge on chemical shipping operation, be familiar with the whole process of both domestic and foreign trade chemical shipping, and have a strong interpersonal network in China, including chemical terminals, local agents, ports, authority, shipping company and other enterprises. Be able to coordinate and deal with various problems, especially various operation, and arrangements of ships at the unloading port.
 Have excellent knowledge on handling of chemical product operation on both ship and shore operation.
 Possess excellent problem solving, analytical, negotiation and interpersonal skills with can-do attitude.
 Self-motivated, independent, result-oriented team player and able to work under high pressure in adynamic growing environment.
 Ability to effectively use business research tools, technologies, methodologies, and commercial database.
 Fluent in spoken and written English and Chinese with good communication and presentation skill.
