Munich Re Markets ("Markets") within Munich Re is specialized in all types of strategic transactions for life insurance companies' clients worldwide. This unit handles non-traditional business involving corporate finance and risk management for life insurers through structured reinsurance, hedging, strategic risk transfer, and other transactions.

Markets has developed and/or reinsured numerous individualized savings products worldwide, and possesses the infrastructure to reinsure, administer, and manage risks for savings, retirement, and investment products. Currently, Markets is expanding its Global Modelling & Analytics team to meet the rising demand for strategic in-force solutions and reinsurance of investment-linked insurance products across APAC.

The Global Modelling & Analytics team consists of around 15 experts located in multiple hubs worldwide. We are establishing local modelling capacity in Hong Kong to support Business Development and Inforce Structuring activities in APAC hubs (Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Korea). The new role will focus on risk analysis, modelling, and pricing of structured/multi-asset solutions for insurance clients, as well as optimizing and managing solvency ratios.

As a Structurer, you will work closely with Structurers and Originators across APAC, as well as with specialized modelling colleagues in Europe and North America, to enhance our risk analysis and pricing capabilities for bespoke and complex reinsurance solutions. This role offers robust and personalized development opportunities.

This position is based in Hong Kong and operationally reports to the Global Head of GMA (Global Modelling & Analytics). There is also a secondary reporting line to the Regional Head of Inforce Solutions Structuring, APAC.

Your Role:

  • Lead the structuring and pricing of tailor-made alternative reinsurance solutions.
  • Manage risk and profitability analyses of life insurance and reinsurance products and in-force portfolios.
  • Develop appropriate reinsurance solutions that address accounting, regulatory, and economic risk transfer aspects.
  • Support the methodological and technical development of pricing and modelling tools that integrate traditional actuarial techniques with financial mathematics.
  • Provide expertise for strategic projects.
  • Prepare and deliver internal and external presentations on various life reinsurance topics.
  • Serve as a primary contact for Originators and Structurers in APAC, developing markets, and client relationships for any technical aspects.


Your Profile:

  • Minimum with 3 years of experiences in life (re)insurance, investment banking, or an actuarial consulting firm, along with a (post)graduate degree in mathematics, actuarial science, business economics, or a related field.
  • Profound knowledge of stochastic/statistical techniques, financial mathematics, and international accounting and regulatory frameworks relevant to life insurance and the banking industry.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python) or statistical computing languages (e.g., R) is preferred.
  • Experience in pricing and structuring bespoke reinsurance agreements or financial derivatives.
  • High personal integrity, strong sense of responsibility, and a knowledge-transfer mindset.
  • Proven project management skills combined with strong analytical abilities.
  • Creativity and openness to new approaches, flexibility in a rapidly changing environment, and the ability to work within a distributed team.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in any other major language is an advantage.
