Job Description

The Journey:

During your 18 months traineeship, you'll learn how to identify and apply important strategies and business processes. You'll get to learn about our company's functions and operations, and you'll support our management team with daily tasks. Throughout, you will develop strong problem-solving, communication and people management skills. Additionally, you will participate in formal training courses.

This trainee program is designed to fast-track the development of high-potential young individuals and prepare them for future leadership positions within the Sika organization. Development components shall include: rotational assignments including cross country projects/training/seminars; mentorship to help navigate daily challenges; formal training sessions/ workshops/seminars to develop essential skills such as leadership, communication, problem-solving, and project management; Job rotation & project deployment to gain hands-on experience and apply the skills and knowledge in a practical setting; networking to expand professional connections; and opportunity to work and be coached by Sika Senior Managers.

What does the management trainee do?

The Process Safety Engineer will play an important and critical role in our Operations organization to ensure all current and new process plants are designed and operated with a high safety standard. The trainee will be a key contributor to develop a safety management process which shall be applied by the engineers to all design work.

You will gain exposure and experience in:

Support and participate in building process safety guidelines.

Apply the technics, methods and tools during the design process.

Maintain and apply knowledge of current health and safety policies, regulations, and industrial processes.

Review plans and specifications for new machinery and equipment to make sure that they meet safety requirements.

Identify and correct potential hazards by inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment.

Completing all assigned tasks and assisting with day-to-day operations.

Participating in meetings, workshops, and other learning opportunities.

Preparing documents and updating records

Traveling to different offices and participating in daily operations as required.

Get familiar with personnel duties

Create and give presentations

Observing and learning from experienced staff members.

Gaining knowledge of company policies, protocols, and processes.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or master's degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering field

2-4 years of working experience in relevant or similar capacity (as of 15 August commencement date of Management Trainee Program 2024)

Familiar with technics to identify hazards, to perform risk assessment, safety report preparation, process safety performance monitoring and auditing.

The process safety engineer knows how to apply HAZOP, Process FMEA. The PS engineer can read and interpret complex P&ID or PFDs. The PS engineer knows how to perform interlocking diagrams based on P&IDs.

Most of the risk assessment tools require good communication and team work with other experts from other disciplines.

Confident and positive team player with eagerness to learn

Strong command of English, and excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with the ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner.

Multicultural exposure and strong adaptability with desire for international travel
