What you'll do

  • Work with business leaders to set and implement appropriate IP strategies to achieve business objectives.
  • Drive IP enforcement strategy in China, including infringement identification, case preparation and litigation.
  • Provide IP advice on business development and localization activities, including due diligence reviews.
  • Set, implement and audit best practices for trade secret protection.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to a broad range of business matters.
  • Draft and negotiate IP-related aspects of agreements.
  • Work with cross functional team to secure revenue through out-licensing where appropriate.
  • Ensure freedom to operate and minimize exposure to third party IP, including providing and drafting opinions.
  • Work closely with R&D to ensure that sufficient ideas and invention disclosures are generated.
  • Ensure that patent filings are drafted to a high quality on commercially significant inventions by working with R&D, business managers and marketing.
  • Work with IP and legal counterparts in Danaher Corporate and other Danaher operating companies to develop best practices and standard work for IP protection and enforcement in China.

Who you are:

  • Master's degree or above in bioengineering, biochemistry, chemistry, mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
  • Patent Agent Qualification
  • Law degree and/or Legal Profession Qualification is preferred.
  • 8+ years of work experience in patent agent firm and/or in-house IP department of a company. Work experience in a multinational company is a plus.
  • Native Chinese speaker, and excellent command of the English language.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Good team player and willingness to take initiatives.
  • Able to engage in robust discussions and partner with senior leaders to properly articulate IP risks to enable high quality decisions that appropriately balance relevant risks and commercial opportunities.
  • Solid leadership skills.
  • Track record of devising innovative IP strategies.
  • Excellent commercial awareness.
  • Experience working in the life sciences or healthcare sector.
