Position Summary

The Straumann Group is seeking a dedicated (Senior) Product Engineer to develop its new manufacturing campus in the Minhang district of Shanghai, China. This team member will play an important role in the Straumann China Campus Team during its early years, by assisting Straumann business process owners to localize product-related documentation via SAP PLM. As the site grows and matures from a Greenfield building into a fully developed manufacturing plant for the Straumann Group brands, this individual will become a core member who will be responsible for establishing new local business processes for the China Campus. They will also provide a critical link to the Global Process Owners at Straumann HQ in Basel, Switzerland for data and future system rollouts.

Job Responsibilities

The Product Engineer will be initially be responsible for the creation and implementation of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) documents for new products to be manufactured in China. Until the launch of the SAP system in Q2 of 2024, the product engineer will be required to learn how such documentation will be transferred and localized from the Straumann Group Brand Owner. They will need to assist with document translation from English to Chinese, and they will be required to test and troubleshoot this transitory process after the China Campus opens. Additionally, the product engineer will assist the local PLM Business Process Owner from the China Campus Team to plan and record the local SAP processes concerning product transfer and change control. They will also be responsible for preparing User Acceptance Tests (UAT) and test reports ahead of the Go-Live date of SAP. After the Go-Live, they will manage the process that they helped create, and also serve as the first contact for troubleshooting errors and escalating topics to the Global Business Process Owners if necessary.

Qualifications

Candidates must have the following qualifications:

Language skills: English is a must for communication with HQ and with overseas colleagues.Past experience with using SAP. Bonus if experience included working with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Quality Management (QM), or Supply Chain (SC) modules within SAP.Good knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management systems and processes.2-5 years working experience with product transfer processes. Medical device product experience (e.g. orthopedics or dental) is preferred.

The following qualifications are desired and considered a plus to have:

Past experience creating BOMs, routings, and other DMR-relevant documents.Willingness to learn and acquire new knowledge, especially in the field of Data & TechExperience coordinating a team to transfer a product from an overseas manufacturer.Familiar with change request and change impact process.Good organization and communication skills required.
